Is there a fish oil tea? Formats explained
Fish oil isn't sold as a tea because it's a fat that doesn't dissolve in water and oxidizes faster with heat. "Omega 3 green tea" usually refers to a combination supplement or two separate daily habits.
Fish oil doesn't come as a tea, and there's a practical reason: oil doesn't dissolve or infuse into hot water the way tea leaves do, and heating fish oil accelerates the oxidation that already limits its shelf life. What people usually mean by "omega 3 green tea" is either a multi-ingredient supplement that bundles green tea extract with fish oil, or plain fish oil taken alongside a cup of tea as a separate habit — both are different from an actual fish-oil-infused tea, which isn't a real product category.
Why fish oil isn't sold as a tea
Fish oil is a fat, and fats don't dissolve in water — they'd sit on the surface rather than infuse, the way an oil-and-vinegar dressing separates instead of blending. Heat and oxygen exposure are also the two things that most quickly turn fish oil rancid, which is why softgels are sealed and typically stored away from heat and light. Brewing it into hot tea would work against both of those storage basics, not with them. That's the practical reason fish oil is sold in sealed forms — softgel, liquid, or gummy — rather than as a tea or infusion.
What "omega 3 green tea" products actually are
Some combination supplements bundle green tea extract with fish oil in the same capsule or softgel, sold under a general wellness or metabolism positioning. Green tea extract is a separate ingredient with its own research literature, distinct from fish oil's; we don't carry a combination product, and this page doesn't evaluate green tea extract's own evidence. If a product markets itself as "omega 3 green tea," check its own label for how much of each ingredient it actually contains — combination products don't always state each ingredient's full amount clearly.
The formats fish oil actually comes in
- Softgel. The most common format, including ours — 1,000 mg of fish oil concentrate per softgel, providing 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA, one softgel twice daily.
- Liquid. Poured by the spoonful; compared with softgels in fish oil powder and liquid.
- Gummies. Chewable, usually at a lower EPA/DHA dose per piece than a softgel — see fish oil gummies.
Questions people ask
Is there a fish oil tea?
Not as an actual product category. Fish oil is a fat and doesn't infuse into hot water; it's sold in sealed softgel, liquid or gummy forms instead.
Can I add fish oil to my tea?
There's no established reason to, and heat can speed up oxidation of the oil. If you take both, the straightforward approach is swallowing the softgel with a meal and drinking tea separately.
What is "omega 3 green tea" supposed to be?
Usually a combination supplement pairing green tea extract with fish oil, or simply two separate daily habits done together. It isn't a fish-oil-infused tea.
