Guide
How long does berberine take to work?
Berberine trials measured results after one to three months, at doses well above our 73 mg serving — so there's no trial timeline that applies to our own product.
Most clinical trials on berberine measured their results after one to three months, at 900 mg to 1.5 g a day. Electric Tiger Berberine provides about 73 mg a day — a fraction of that — so there's no trial timeline that applies to our serving. We can't tell you when, or whether, you'd notice anything.
What the trials measured, and how long they ran
A 2024 analysis of 50 studies found that most berberine trials ran one to three months at 900 mg to 1.5 g a day, and a separate pooled analysis of 12 placebo-controlled trials covered a similar period. Both measured lab values at the end of the trial, not how participants felt day to day, and neither tested anything close to our 73 mg serving. See how much berberine did the studies use for the dose and outcome reported in each individual trial.
Why we don't have a timeline for our own dose
Because no trial has tested berberine at anything near 73 mg a day, there's no research describing how long that amount would take to produce any change, or whether it would. That's different from saying it doesn't do anything — it's that the question hasn't been studied at this dose. We don't put a number of days or weeks on it because we don't have one to point to.
Berberine patches and other delivery forms
A large share of the searches behind this question are about berberine patches — a transdermal product, not what we sell. We haven't reviewed independent human research on patches specifically, and can't speak to their absorption or timeline. Electric Tiger Berberine is an oral capsule; see what is berberine for how our product delivers it.
Questions people ask
Does berberine work?
Berberine has clinical research behind it as an ingredient, mostly at 900 mg to 1.5 g a day — see berberine benefits: what's established and what isn't. It isn't a prescription medication, and it hasn't been tested against one at our 73 mg dose.
How long does berberine stay in your system?
We haven't found a specific elimination time reported in the research we reviewed for oral berberine at our dose. Trials typically measured results after weeks of consistent daily use, not how long a single dose stays in the body.
Do berberine patches work?
We don't sell, and haven't independently reviewed research on, transdermal berberine patches. Our product is an oral capsule studied in the trial literature summarized above, at doses well over what we provide.
How long can or should you take berberine?
Our label doesn't set a maximum duration — follow it as directed, or as a healthcare professional advises. The longest trials we found ran about three months; we don't have data on continuous use beyond that. See is it safe to take berberine every day.
